Pakistan - Chana Pindi

Now we've made it to November, and the first recipe I made that month was this delicious Pakistani dish called Chana Pindi. This was a fairly spicy curry like dish, which went very well with the naan bread I bought, and was very healthy! My sister was not a big fan of this one, as this kind of dish really isn't her thing, but that was fine by me, because that meant I got the whole pot to myself!

There were a few ingredients in this recipe which I was unfortunately not able to find. One was anardana, which are apparently dried pomegranate seeds, and the other was amchur, which is a dry mango powder. When I did a bit of research on them, I found that both can be substituted with lemon juice, so I used that instead. Obviously, that meant my Chana Pindi did not taste exactly the way its meant to, but it was still very good! As for the rest of the spices though, this recipe called for dry roasting some of the spices which I had never done before, but I quickly learned that the process makes the kitchen smell absolutely amazing.

Once again, I was very happy with this dinner. Luckily, I haven't found many that were disappointing honestly! I can only hope I stay so lucky with all the recipes I find!
