Chile - Empanadas

The next dish I made in November were these lovely Chilean Empanadas. I unfortunately didn't get a good picture of the filling, but I can promise that they were very good!

The main thing I noticed in making these empanadas was that they reminded me quite a lot of the Jamaican patties I made back in the summer- not in terms of the taste, but in a lot of the methods I was using. The main differences were of course the dough, and the element of stuffing each empanada with things other than the beef mixture, like the egg, raisins, and olives. The stuffing was certainly what made this dish unique, and very tasty as well. I did end up with some air pockets inside the empanadas which I was a little concerned about while they baking, but luckily it all turned out fine! Overall, I was very happy with the results!
