Czech Republic - Česnečka and Bábovka

I'm finally caught up again! This past week I came home for the Christmas holidays, and I made a couple Czech recipes for my family: Česnečka (a garlic soup), and Bábovka (a very lovely cake).

To start off, the bábovka cake was very tasty, and I was very happy with the result. I had never made a cake in a bundt pan before, and though it was a little tricky to get out of the pan (my mom had to help) it turned out pretty well! The one part that didn't work out perfectly was the marbling of white cake and the chocolate cake, which is also something I hadn't done before, and so for the most part the cake ended up in layers instead of mixed together, but it still tasted very nice!

I also made a delicious garlic soup called česnečka, which was topped with croutons and grated cheese and was absolutely delicious. I ended up skipping the optional step of adding a few extra crushed garlic cloves near the end of the cooking time, but I think maybe I would do this step if I were to make the soup again, but even without them it was still very tasty.

Once again, I was very happy with how both of these recipes turned out, and it was really nice to be able to share them with my family over the holidays!

FIRSTS THIS WEEK:
