Vietnam - Phở
This week I started my final semester of school, and my sister moved back in with me after her summer at home, and so for this special week, I was very excited to learn to make Vietnamese Phở. This is one of my favourite foods, and so it was very cool to learn how to make it myself.
I did encounter one fairly big issue with this particular recipe, which was concerning the broth. I've never made broth starting with bones before, so that was kind of an exciting new experience, but the problem came from the very long cooking time this recipe takes. The broth had to simmer for three hours, and according to my sister, our stove is actually hotter than average, and so in simmering, far more of the broth cooked off than it should have, and I was left with very little left by the end of the three hours. I actually ended up having to add water to it in order to have enough for two bowls, and so my hard earned broth ended up being quite watery and weak unfortunately, but nonetheless, the dish overall was quite tasty.
Despite that fairly big hurdle, I was pretty pleased with the end result, but honestly, I don't think I'll be making Phở again anytime soon.
