China - Pork Potsticker Dumplings
Hopefully soon I'll be caught back up on these posts- we're getting there!
I made this dish of pork potsticker dumplings a couple of weeks ago for Chinese New Year, and I was very impressed with how they turned out! I mean, as you can tell from the picture the wrappers fell apart quite a lot, but they tasted amazing! They were so good that I honestly couldn't believe I made them, which I guess means that this project is working!
These delicious dumplings were also really enjoyable to make! I made every part of them from scratch, even the dough, and wrapping each dumpling was actually very relaxing. I honestly wish I had taken a picture of them before they went in the pan, because that's the point things went a little wrong.
The two recipes I used for this dish gave instructions on how to cook dumplings three different ways- steaming, boiling, and frying (to make potstickers). I couldn't steam mine because I don't own a steamer, and according to the recipe, boiling them is the hardest way to make them, since the dumplings need to be wrapped perfectly, so I decided potstickers were the most suited to my skill level. Evidently that was not completely true, because I put too many of them in the pan and crowded them, so they all stuck together, and then ripped on the sides when I took them out.
Even though they fell apart, these dumplings were amazing, and I'll definitely try them again sometime! Hopefully I'll be able to write up the post for last week sometime tomorrow.
